2025 Fisker PEAR Is the Sub-$30,000 EV You've Been Waiting for, Houdini Trunk Included
The Personal Electric Automotive Revolution (PEAR) was officially introduced right after the brand showed the world its future flagship – the drop-dead gorgeous Ronin.

Here's why this six-seater crossover might just be what secures Fisker's future in the automotive sector.

Fisker has Tesla-like ambitions, even though it employs around 1,000 people at the moment. Moreover, it does not have a factory in the US – for now. But the California-based brand wants to scale production to "millions of vehicles per year." That's what the founder and CEO said during the introductory speech. Given the price and specs of the PEAR, it's hard not to believe him.

The executive also explained that the crossover has been envisioned to fit today's and tomorrow's lifestyles. The vehicle is aimed at young people living in urban areas because it's smaller than the Ocean and boasts a lot of versatility inside. It also draws some design inspiration from the Ronin, Fisker's brand-new flagship.

The model shown at the brand's Product Vision Day 2023 is a two-row, six-seater model – three people can sit in the front and three in the back. That's possible thanks to a bench seat arrangement for the front row.

This model cannot have the large rotating screen as its infotainment, but the PEAR will also come as a five-seater. That model will come with the Revolve touchscreen and an ingenious front storage solution.

It also has a front trunk (or froot, as the Brits call it), a solar roof like its bigger brother Ocean, and a retractable tailgate. That's the "Houdini trunk."

Reminding us of the BMW Z1's doors, the rear windshield first drops down into the tailgate. Then, the liftgate itself retracts into a dedicated cavity in the bumper. It might seem like a gimmick, but this feature will come in handy for people owning tight parking spaces or garages with low ceilings.

The shorter wheelbase does not compromise interior lighting. Large, frameless windowed surfaces help sunlight enter the cabin to eliminate any claustrophobia worries.

The PEAR also has flush door handles, slim side mirrors that have been turned into cameras, a wraparound windshield, and a sculpted body that can help it slip better through the air despite it looking like a raised hatchback.

The automaker said it had developed a new platform called SVM1 for the PEAR and has simplified manufacturing. These two advantages enable the company to sell it at this great price. But it has also included a powerful processing unit called Fisker Blade! As expected, artificial intelligence (AI) was mentioned.

However, the most important thing about the PEAR probably is that it will be made in America. Moreover, Fisker says this crossover will benefit from the full EV tax credit, which would drop its price to $22,400 from $29,900.

From 2024 onwards, the federal incentive can be applied at the point of sale for qualifying buyers. This won't be a complicated procedure since Fisker adopted the direct sales model. Customers will get it starting in the summer of 2025.

The brand has opened the reservation process for this crossover. If you want to put your name down for one, use the carmaker's app or the web platform to sign up. There's a $250 deposit prospective customers must pay to register their reservation.

Lastly, Fisker's next ambitious project is to create a climate-neutral vehicle by 2027.
