The Hyundai Kona has made its public debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Here are the new B-SUV’s live images from the show.

The Hyundai Kona, while carrying the signature Hyundai cues like the Cascading grille, presents the design direction for the brand's future SUVs. The small SUV features a two-tier headlamp setup for a unique front-end, while the flared wheel arches on the sides complement its broad stance. There are ten exterior colour choices and two roof designs available, offering a total of twenty exterior colour combinations.

On the inside, the Hyundai Kona's instrumentation includes a heads-up display, which projects relevant information directly into the driver's line of sight. There's an optional eight-inch infotainment system, which supports Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The system comes with a seven-year free subscription to LIVE Services, offering updated information in real time such as weather, traffic, speed cameras and online searches for points of interest. There's also an optional wireless inductive charging pad to charge mobile phones.

The Hyundai Kona comes with two engine choices- 1-litre T-GDI and a 1.6-litre T-GDI. The former produces 120 PS of power at 6,000 rpm and 172 Nm of torque at 1,500-4,000 rpm. The latter generates 177 PS of peak power at 5,500 rpm and 265 Nm of peak torque at 1,500-4,500 rpm. There are two transmission choices- a 6-speed manual with front wheel drive for the 1-litre engine; or a 7-speed DCT with an optional four-wheel drive for the 1.6-litre mill. The optional four-wheel drive can transfer up to 50% torque to the rear wheels.

In mid-2018, Hyundai will offer a new 1.6-litre diesel engine with two outputs: a regular 115 PS version with a 6MT and front-wheel drive; and a 136 PS version with 320 Nm torque in combination with a 7-speed DCT and the choice between four-wheel and front-wheel drive.

The target value of combined fuel efficiency figure stands at 18.8 kmpl for the 1-litre mill; and 13.6 kmpl for the 1.6-litre powerplant. When it comes to safety, the Kona features Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Alert, Static Bending Light and Smart High Beam.

Hyundai plans to launch the Hyundai Kona in Europe in Q3 2017 (October-December 2017).
