It Took A German Tuner To Unlock The New Toyota Land Cruiser's Full Potential
Delta4x4 is a German tuner that specializes in preparing a variety of four-wheel-drive trucks and SUVs for rugged off-roading. Its recent projects include an adorable, high-riding Renault R5 EV and a Ferrari Purosangue with a set of 20-inch Force Light beadlock wheels with BF Goodrich Trail Terrain tires.

The company now introduces a Toyota Land Cruiser J25 with a load of improvements so that the rig can take on tough trails.

Along with the build, Delta4x4 has a video (below) highlighting the components on its new Land Cruiser. There are quite a few additional parts for making sure the SUV can take the punishment that comes with going off the beaten path. All the components are available now.

Delta4x4 installs two lift kits on its Land Cruiser. One of them elevates the body by nearly two inches, and the other is an adjustable suspension from KW's Reiger division that adds another 1.8 inches of elevation. The extra room in the fenders allows the tuner to install a set of 35-inch BF Goodrich K02 all-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels. Aftermarket fender flares keep them under cover.

In front, there's a matte black brush bar protecting the bumper, and buyers have the option of mounting a pair of LED light strips onto it for extra illumination when off-roading. The SUV also has a Warn winch and a beefy underbody panel for protecting vital mechanical components. More auxiliary lights are on the hood at the base of the A-pillars.

On top, there's a Frontrunner roof rack. Delta4x4 uses the extra space for stowing four recovery boards, a spare wheel, gas cans, and a storage box. Extra lamps are on the rack's front and rear.

If you're a fan of what Delta4x4 is doing with this Land Cruiser, the tuner has a price list for most of the components.

  • 2-inch body lift kit: $2,930 (€2,500)
  • Suspension lift kit: $6,450 (€5,500)
  • Wheels with 35-inch BF Goodrich tires: $5,860 (€5,000)
  • Fender extensions: $3,500 (€3,000)
  • Warn winch: $4,685 (€4,000)
  • Roof rack with expedition accessories: approximately $2,930 (€2,500)

The 250-series Land Cruiser launched in the United States for the 2024 model year. It adopted a boxy, retro appearance similar to the 60-series model available in the 1980s. Power comes exclusively from a hybrid-assisted, turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder making a total of 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic routes the output to a full-time four-wheel-drive system. It can tow up to 6,000 pounds.

Tuners, particularly those in Japan and Europe, are already providing significant aftermarket support for the new Land Cruiser. The builds reimagine the SUV in various ways. For example, Tom's prepped a street-style rig with an even boxier appearance than stock. Arctic Trucks put one together with huge fender flares and 37-inch tires. Meanwhile, Armormax introduced multiple levels of bullet resistance, including a range-topping version capable of taking an armor-piercing round. There was even a complete rebuild into a Baja-capable off-road racer.

Since launching the 250-series Land Cruiser, Toyota has largely left the SUV alone. The major exception is in the United Kingdom, where it's now possible to get the model as a stripped-down work van. Inside, there are 71 cubic feet of cargo space, thanks in part to a new floor tray that covers all the original seat brackets. There's also a full-height bulkhead for easier loading and unloading.
