Jeep Wrangler-Based Outpost II Camper Is Ready For Anything

Montana-based American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) company is specialized in offering off-road parts and accessories for Jeep, Ram, and Chevrolet SUV and pickup models, and is arguably the best place to take your Jeep for a transformation into an adventurous camper van. To prove that, the studio has recently unveiled its awesome Outpost II project, a tour de force showing what the specialists are really capable of.

The camper started its life as a regular Jeep Wrangler  and AEV extended the rear frame to add more space and installed a revised suspension which is 4.5 inches higher than on the regular model. Power comes from the range-topping 5.7-liter HEMI engine, breathing through a special snorkel for deep water diving.

More interesting changes are happening inside the vehicle, where an electric pop-top roof quickly transforms into a breathable tent that expands interior headroom. There are two kitchen areas, one inside and one outside, featuring a 50-liter freezer fridge and a steel stove. LED lighting, exterior awning, and 22 gallons of water at your disposal guarantee you'll be comfortably accommodated together with your partner. A total of more than 600 handmade parts were added to the vehicle, including a 265-watt solar roof.

Unfortunately, American Expedition Vehicles currently has no plans to sell the Outpost II to customers, as this example has been built as a custom project for the company's president. However, something similar based on a Ram platform could be offered in the future. Meanwhile, most of the components are available through AEV's parts and accessories catalogue.

For example, a complete pre-filter snorkel system for the Wrangler costs $400, while a custom rugged front bumper is another $1,320.
