Peugeot designs rear-engine hybrid for Gran Turismo Sport
Since Gran Turismo 6, one of the famed racing game's unique features has been the Vision Gran Turismo cars, which are vehicles designed by automakers specifically for the game.

Peugeot was one of many companies to design a car for GT6, and it designed a second one for Gran Turismo Sport, the newest installment in the series. The new car comes in road-going and racing versions with the lengthy names of L500 R HYbrid Vision Gran Turismo and L750 R HYbrid Vision Gran Turismo.

In case you couldn't tell from the name, these fictional Peugeot concepts are hybrids. They use a gasoline-fueled engine with an unnamed number of cylinders coupled to an electric motor and a seven-speed sequential transmission. The entire powertrain is also mounted at the back, Porsche 911-style. In the L500, the powertrain makes about 580 horsepower, while the L750 packs about 750 horsepower. The L750 also boasts a redline of 10,000 rpm. Weighing just over 1,800 pounds should make the L750 a formidable car in the game. Although significantly heavier and with less power, the roughly 2,200-pound L500 should still be plenty quick.

The Peugeot HYbrid Vision Gran Turismo cars will appear alongside their predecessors from Gran Turismo 6. They will also be joined by a few other unique cars designed for the game, including the McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo, and the Fittipaldi EF7 by Pininfarina.
