Skoda Scala and Kamiq Getting a Nip & Tuck on August 1, Official Teasers Reveal What's New

Our spy photographers haven't managed to snap fresh shots of prototypes since last year. Therefore, we kind of forgot they're in the making, but Skoda has just stepped forward to announce that they're ready, and they will be officially unveiled on August 1. The premiere will be hosted in the online realm and will be streamed over the web.

Besides announcing the unveiling date, Skoda has also released a few details of the two fresh models, releasing several teasers at the same time. Mind you, despite bearing the car manufacturer's signature, the digital illustrations don't reflect reality. They're on the unrealistic side, and they're meant to build up the hype. However, they do preview some of the updates, which mostly revolve around the front and rear ends of these vehicles.

On the Kamiq subcompact crossover, you're looking at the same split-headlamp design, albeit with new DRLs and clusters, and a different bumper with a more aggressive design and a new apron attached to it. Out back, Skoda gave it a new bumper and a diffuser that provides some protection to the underbody. The L-shaped taillights are also new, and the new reflectors join them, contributing to an almost C-shaped pattern.

Compared to the outgoing model, the 2023 Skoda Scala has slimmer headlamps and a new bumper with a wide central air intake and side vents. The official renderings preview the new L-shaped taillights, which are still separated by the Skoda lettering in the middle. The bumper is new and looks cleaner, and the compact hatchback has a new diffuser and repositioned reflectors. Don't mind the apparently hidden door handles because the car will retain the ones of the current iteration. Skoda says the new alloys and the tailgate lettering complete the redesign of both models.

In addition to the refreshed styling, the 2023 Kamiq and Scala should get a few tweaks on the inside, though we don't know what we're dealing with here yet. The automaker claims they sport new features that were "previously reserved for higher vehicle classes," so we could be looking at new tech and comfort features and probably revised driver assistance systems. The engine lineup will likely carry over, comprising the same small units, though some of them might have been updated. After all, Skoda, like all automakers out there, is trying to cut down the carbon dioxide emissions and make its models less thirsty. We'll find out everything about the facelifted Scala and Kamiq two weeks from today, when they debut on August 1.
