Volkswagen Group Reports 9.03 Million Deliveries for 2024, Down From 9.24 Million in 2023
Over the last 12 months, the Volkswagen Group delivered a grand total of 9.03 million vehicles worldwide. That is around 200,000 fewer sales compared to 2023, of which certain markets are mostly responsible for, beginning with a drop of 10.3 percent in the Asia-Pacific region.

Speaking of which, deliveries fell by 9.5 percent in China. Over in South America, by comparison, the Wolfsburg-based automotive colossus posted an improvement of 14.7 percent. Brazil was the best-performing market in this region, with sales increasing 18.2 percent from 2023.

Moving to North America, the Volkswagen Group delivered 1.06 million vehicles or 6.4 percent more than before. Not exactly surprising, the United States of America scooped up the most vehicles, with Volkswagen Group sales improving a respectable 2.0 percent.

As for the Volkswagen brand, Volkswagen of America reported a 15.2 percent increase driven by the likes of the Atlas, Tiguan, and Jetta. The Golf GTI and Golf R also moved pretty good volumes in this part of the world, improving 48.6 and 29.6 percent from 2023, most likely due to the 2025 model year demise of the manual tranny.

European deliveries on a group-wide level remained steady in 2024, amounting to 3.77 million sales. Western Europe fell by 0.4 percent, whereas Central and Eastern Europe grew by 1.7 percent. Be that as it may, Volkswagen Group sales contracted by 2.2 percent in Germany.

Even so, the Volkswagen Group remains the leader of the BEV segment in Europe, with the German multinational reporting a market share of 21 percent. All told, battery-electric vehicle deliveries amounted to 744,800 units globally, down 3.4 percent from the previous 771,100 deliveries.

Turning our attention back to the group's core brand again, Volkswagen is the dominant player in Europe, delivering over 1.2 million vehicles last year. Globally, the number is 4.8 percent or 1.4 percent down compared to 2023. The markets where Volkswagen declined are China (by 8.3 percent) and Europe (by 1.7 percent).

As per KBA numbers, Volkswagen enjoys a market share of 19.1 percent back home in Germany. Once again, the compact-sized Tiguan was the most popular Volkswagen worldwide, followed by the smaller T-Roc utility vehicle. Volkswagen says the lesser model will receive a new generation this year, presumably as a 2026 model.

The bad news for the second generation is that Volkswagen will not offer a replacement for the convertible, which is the only convertible produced by the brand nowadays. Volkswagen Autoeuropa assembles the T-Roc in Spain, whereas the T-Roc Cabriolet hails from the Osnabruck plant in Germany. Although there's no T-Roc for North America, this region has the Taos. Both are based on the group's MQB A1 platform, which also underpins the Audi brand's Q2.

As of this writing, der T-Roc and das T-Roc Cabriolet are listed by the German configurator at 27,850 and 36,910 euros, respectively, from the outset. Manufactured in Mexico, the Taos for the US market is a far more reasonable 24,995 dollars.
