2018 Yamaha XMax 400 confirmed for Europe
Yamaha Europe has confirmed the 2018 Yamaha XMax 400.

The refreshed model will be positioned above the Yamaha XMax 300 introduced in October 2016. The difference between the scooters is a larger wheelbase, longer rear suspension and a bigger engine displacement.

Powering the Yamaha XMax 400 is a 395 cc single cylinder mill. The DOHC fuel injection engine is capable of producing 33.31 PS of maximum power at 7,000 rpm and 36 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The automatic gearbox matched to it helps deliver a fuel efficiency of 23.92 km/l. The Euro 4 compliant powerplant focuses on reliability, ease of commuting and low emissions.

The Yamaha XMax 400 has style inspirations from the XMax 300. It gets dual LED headlamps, and sleek LED taillamp. The new seat gets an independent backrest for the rider for additional lumbar support. The instrumentation has twin pod analogue dials with an LCD. The scooter gets a 12-volt charging socket, under seat storage to store two helmets, smart key remote control and a 13-litre fuel tank.

The scooter tips the scales at 210 kg kerb weight (5 kg less than the previous model) and has a seat height of 800 mm. The Yamaha XMax 400 gets an adjustable windscreen, dual discs in the front (single in the rear) and a 150 section rear tyre. The scooter gets motorcycle style telescopic fork and adjustable handlebar. It now also gets traction control as standard.

The Yamaha XMax 400 will hit European dealerships in August 2017. Colour options include Sonic Grey, Blazing Grey and Phantom Blue.
