The first Rimac Nevera R Founder's Edition has just been delivered to its owner at the I.C.E St. Moritz. It's the first time the car has been shown in public, at one of the fanciest automotive events on ice no less.
At The Fanciest Frozen Lake On Earth
When you think of a frozen lake, your first images are probably a cold, grey, wasteland. Sitting in the middle of nowhere, some place in rural Minnesota, Michigan, or one of the other winter states. Maybe you're cutting a hole to try and catch some fish while you stare at the barren trees on the shoreline.
St. Moritz is not that. This Swiss town is fancy, home to mineral springs and luxury resorts. When there aren't cars on the ice, there is usually a polo match going on. Yes, on the ice.
That is the right place to show up in a one-of-10 hypercar. The International Concours of Excellence is like Monterey Car Week in the cold. Full of some amazing cars, machinery that fights with the Nevera R for attention.
The Nevera R Founder's Edition is more than just a fancy spec; each of the 10 buyers get brought into the Croatian car company. The buyers start with a trip to the Rimac HQ to visualize their own personal specifications. Then they get special invites to product previews, acces to company HQ, and even invitations to record-runs and R&D sessions.
Owner Picked A Complex, If Dull Spec
Rimac's first Nevera R Founder's Edition is finished in Côte d'Azur blue on the upper body with a Titanium Silver along the bottom. The roof stripe measures as thin as 2 mm at its thinnest point, and includes circuit board graphics and a Rimac motif.
On the inside, the owner has gone with Indigo Blue for the dash and seats. The driver's seat accent is silver with heat stamp detailing, and the inside roof stripe is matching blue and silver stitching. The console trim is matte black carbon, and the car has dark grey anodized switchgear. Gead Honcho Mate Rimac's signature is permanently applied to the door sill, along with those of some of the other team members involved with the car.
Rimac calls the R a boost of the Nevera from Hyper GT to Hyper Sportscar. 2,107 hp from its four motors is controlled by a new torque vectoring system. The car can do zero to 60 mph in 1.66 seconds and run 268.2 mph flat-out, and has smashed 24 performance records already.
It has more downforce than standard, and Michelin Cup 2 tires for more grip. Though in St. Moritz, the ultra-performance tires are more likely to crack than to stick.
The first owner won't be the only one to take delivery from Mate himself. All ten Founder's Edition buyers will have Mate Rimac oversee the delivery. Though they won't all get this special of an event to go with it.
After the first 10, Rimac plans to build 30 more copies of the Nevera R. Only the Founder's Edition models will get this level of experience.
