Founded in 1985, custom boat manufacturer Performance Marine is stepping into a new era under a different German ownership, and the Hamburg-based iYacht design studio was chosen to launch the first model of the brand's new chapter.
After over a year of development, iYacht is proud to introduce the reimagined Performance 90X, a boat designed with a strong focus on true performance and which promises to give owners the thrills of a speedboat combined with the luxury and comfort of a yacht.
Engineered for speed, elegance, and domination on the water, the new Performance 90X boat is characterized by sleek, sinuous lines, a modern cockpit, and a spacious, comfortable interior. The design seamlessly combines high-quality German craftsmanship, with every curve and line speaking of innovation and precision, optimized ergonomics, and luxurious finishes.
"This is a great project: a historic brand is reborn under German ownership," said iYacht’s CEO, Udo A. Hafner. "We have been involved in this from its very beginning, in addition to the design & engineering of the 90X, we also selected and brought onboard some key suppliers and we will go down until the CE certification of this boat."
The new sports boat represents a fusion between the past and the future. It marks the beginning of a new era for Performance Marine but it also acts as a link to the brand's rich, successful heritage. That's because iYacht based their design on the proved and tested Performance hulls, which are widely recognized by boating enthusiasts for their handling and sportiness.
"The unique and distinctive essence of the Performance brand could not be lost, and thanks to our collaboration with iYacht, it has not only been preserved but also renewed," stated Stefan von Klebelsberg, one of the new owners of the brand.
Measuring 30 feet (9.15 meters) in length with a beam of 8.5 feet (2.60 meters), the monohull looks like a racing powerboat. It boasts a V-hull design, with a wave-piercing bow and arrow-like appearance, and the air inlets instantly give away the racing-inspired design language.
When it comes to propulsion, the Performance 90X can be equipped with Mercury MerCruiser engines, ranging from 430 hp up to 1,130 hp, paired with the Bravo One XR drive, which is specifically engineered to handle the power of big-block engines. The builder does not mention specific speed figures, but the fact that the boat is equipped with the Mercury Zero Effort DTS system, which replaces traditional throttle cables with cutting-edge digital technology to deliver instantaneous throttle response, means it will offer an unmatched driving experience with ultra-fast performance.
An advanced Joystick Piloting System, which is offered as an optional feature, ensures greater ease of handling and docking. This system simplifies the docking maneuver by integrating engines, gearboxes, steering, and thrusters into a single intuitive unit.
However, Performance X90 is not only about speed and performance but also about enjoying the water in a comfortable and luxurious environment. The boat stands out with a spacious open multipurpose cockpit area that allows the owner and up to eight guests to bask in the sun.
When it comes to the seating and lounging areas onboard Performance 90X, the designers' aim was to achieve a perfect balance of form, function, and aesthetics. From the ergonomics to the upholstery and cushions to the lighting system, every detail was thought out to offer an excellent onboard experience.
The boat's deck is an intricate and complex structure with nearly 20 molded parts, which required meticulous planning and precision. The cockpit, meanwhile, is a technological masterpiece, with an avant-garde keyless ignition system, and optimally positioned instruments and switches. Future owners will be able to choose between dual digital displays for a truly modern interface or a mix of analog and digital instruments.
The boat also features an innovative RGB lighting system, adjustable via a dedicated app or the onboard screens, and an optional premium sound system that will help create a pleasant ambiance onboard.
Finally, the cabin layout optimizes the available space to fit a king-size bed and a comfortable wet room. It's designed as a luxurious space with beautiful finishes, aiming to provide owners with the comfort and style of a small yacht stateroom.
Every detail of the new Performance 90X sports boat was designed to provide future owners with an exceptional experience. What's more, Performance Marine will offer a wide range of customization options for both the interior and exterior, so owners will be able to personalize their boats to reflect their own style and preferences.
Pricing for the Performance 90X has not yet been made public, but the boat is ready to enter production, and it will be built in Germany.
