Peugeot-Backed DAB Motors Reveals Five E-Motorcycles Inspired by the Paris Olympics
The 2024 Paris Olympic Games have inspired a unique collection of electric motorcycles that bring the spirit of sport to life. The collection is titled "A la gloire du sport" (In the glory of sport) and was created by DAB Motors, a French motorcycle brand that was founded in 2018 in Bayonne and was taken over by Peugeot Motorcycles in 2023.

There are five models in the special series, each paying tribute to a different sporting discipline. The custom two-wheelers are based on the DAB 1α motorbike, the first model jointly developed by Peugeot and DAB Motors, and are proposals from the DAB Custom Studio (DCS), the French brand's bespoke service branch dedicated to creating custom bikes with unique features and looks.

The Olympics-themed e-motorcycles stand out with unique aesthetic details and are said to represent the favorite sports of Simon Dabadie, DAB Motors' founder, from this year's competition. Interestingly, the vehicles are color-coded, just like the famous Olympic rings, with each color representing a sport as follows: blue is for surfing, green for tennis, yellow for basketball, red for boxing, and black for skateboarding. What's more, the equipment on each bike is also in line with the sport it is meant to represent.

"Each motorcycle has a distinct aesthetic that draws inspiration from the culture and heritage of each sport," explains DAB Motors.

The ocean blue DAB 1α motorbike is an homage to the free-spirited lifestyle that has come to be associated with surfing. This version comes equipped with a front luggage rack, a side slot for the surfboard, and an actual DAB-branded surfboard. With its blue shade, neoprene seat, and silver fork, this two-wheeler would fit just right in any coastal environment.

The tennis-themed version exudes elegance and sophistication. It boasts a light shade of green beautifully complemented by grey details and would be a perfect commuter for tennis lovers. Apart from a front basket for carrying tennis balls, it also has a special compartment for the racket. Other highlights include a green-and-white tartan seat and custom brown tires.

Designed to epitomize the core values of contact sports, like strength and resilience, the box-inspired unit in this special collection is painted red with golden side panels to reminisce the design of championship belts. Further highlighting the represented sport, boxing gloves are displayed on the seat strap, and the bike's front plate features Mike Tyson's famous face tattoo.

The version designed around basketball boasts a black-and-yellow color scheme and comes with a side rack holding a custom duffel perfect for carrying your basketball gear. The design is also a nod to the sports connections to street culture and hip-hop music.

Finally, a black model completes the "A la gloire du sport" series and will appeal to skateboarding fans. It features forged carbon bodywork with hand-painted graffiti accents and BMX handlebar foam. To better represent the sport, the designers added a tubular protection structure, crash pods, and a skate rack.

In terms of technical components, all five sport-inspired electric motorcycles are the same, as they are based on the same foundation. The DAB 1α is powered by a 25.5 kW engine fed by a 7.1 kWh battery. With up to 395 Nm of torque at the wheel, it promises a top speed of 130 kph (36 mph). Range is estimated at 150 km (93 miles) per charge.

If you're wondering how you can get your hands on one of these cool machines, the company explains that interested customers can order a DAB 1α electric motorcycle on their website and request to be customized as one of these Olympics-themed designs. Pricing for the base model starts at €14,900 (approx. $16,000), with shipping available worldwide.
