VW T-Cross to arrive by the end of 2018
Volkswagen had earlier confirmed that the production VW T-Cross will see its premiere sometime this year.

In the latest, the company has announced that the new entry-level SUV will arrive by the end of 2018.

The VW T-Cross was introduced as a concept (T-Cross Breeze) at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show and is currently undergoing road tests internationally. While the concept version was a 2-door convertible SUV, the production version will arrive as a conventional 5-door SUV. It will ride on the MQB platform, specifically MQB A0, which is the same version that underpins the VW Polo as well now.

Volkswagen is likely to offer the T-Cross with a variety of three- and four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, with displacements ranging from 1.0-litre to 1.6-litres. Unlike the VW T-Roc and other bigger Volkswagen SUVs, the T-Cross may not get the 4Motion AWD system, remaining a FWD-only model. A sportier VW T-Cross GTI is possible, but there's no confirmation about such a variant yet.

The VW T-Cross' production will take place at the Volkswagen Navarra plant, where the sixth-gen VW Polo is also made. The new baby SUV will compete with the likes of Ford EcoSport.
