A couple of weeks ago, BMW released a teaser image of its forthcoming 8-series coupe.

Sharing its name with the 1990s high-tech luxury coupe, the new BMW 8-series will be first unveiled in concept-car form at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in Italy tomorrow. Now, that solitary teaser image has been backed up by a photo leak seemingly depicting the entire concept.

Popping up all over the automotive media, the leaked coupe concept looks striking in these official-looking images, especially in classy blue. The actual production car, sharing its platform with the 5- and 7-series, is to be launched in 2018, and it aims to be more of a dream car than the 6-series that has now bowed out in two-door form.

Speaking at the time of the teaser profile image's release, BMW AG's Harald Krüger said: "The BMW 8 Series Coupe will build on our tradition of luxurious sports coupes and add a genuine dream car to our lineup – a slice of pure automotive fascination. The 8 Series Coupe will underpin our claim to leadership in the luxury segment."

Time will tell just how close to the concept the final production version - with models reportedly ranging from 825 to M850 - will be.
